Fiat 500

Well, we started out with a group meeting at 9 (which not everyone was that fond of). With the papers for building approval sent, we had a more chill time today, but still the project had to be pushed forward - designing buildings has no ending.

Groups were shuffled and reorganized - so that more people worked on the most crucial parts of the building. We managed to make some 1:1 scale models of a critical joint between the bamboo and the foundation. The metal straps around the bamboo is to prevent it from splitting when loaded, and when the concrete cures - materials tend to expand and contract because of humidity and this helps to control that behaviour.

The school mascot - a Fiat 500 (What would Sverre Fehn do?), also returned today when we worked in the workshop - and we were told that it will be on national tv very soon. Tomorrow we'll see how the concrete turned out, and discuss more structure with Finn-Erik Nilsen and Solveig Sandness (our engineering dreamteam).
