Team One, Site reconnaissance - Galapagos

Today was fairly different from every other day. We have for the past 3 or so months lived with the idea that our site would have a slab (foundation) cast on it. This slab has been the preliminary concern of everyone - since the communication with Galapagos has been utterly limited. Our design has been relaying on the fact that the slab would be ready by our arrival - so that we would manage to build in the month of November. And since we asked for a thing that seemed fairly doable in the months that we worked on the project - we just believed that it would work out. We looked quite shocked - Åsmund, Jørgen and Jan - when we arrived at the site for the first time. For the past weeks we lived with the belief it was impossible not to have a slab built in a timely manner. Not only was it unfinished - but it hasn't even been started. The only thing done to the site since spring was the removal of some big volcanic rocks and gravel spread out to flatten the site. Now it was time to tell the others the status of our site. We sent a very short email to Christian explaining what has been done and not. And then it was time to tell the 11 other students without making it sound like a joke. We tried face-time - internet to slow, and then we just sent pictures of pictures on messenger, showing how the site looked. Some were shocked, and others stayed positive. Tomorrow everyone arrives and as Christian concluded we will have a "Council war" tomorrow evening.
