Digging & deciding

This morning Christian, Joe and Vilde went to talk to the municipality for the second time, to discuss what our conclusions from the previous day were. While the meeting was ongoing a group of six, Magdalena, Yaohan, Åsmund, Magnus, Jørgen and Jan went to the Eco-Farm in order to prepare the site with some holes so that we could discuss the potential foundations for the Yogi-platform. Meanwhile we made the holes in the foundation. The rest of the team in Puerto Baquerizo Moreno went around and checked on material costs - so that we would know if the we estimated correctly when we assumed that the cost in Galapagos is approximately two times of the mainland.

Taking turns we dug through sand, clay and stones, and when the whole team arrived on-site we debated the potentials of the project and the foundations. We needed to make sure that the site, since it was embedded in nature had the possibility to get a cable of at least 220 V. In order for us to use the tools we brought from Oslo.

Post-discussion a few of us - Magdalena, Therese, Torunn and Åsmund stayed behind and triangulated the stones that would be potential foundations. Then after this was done we behind to eat food from the Eco-Farm - which was made from locally grown vegetables and tasted very fresh.

We met up in the afternoon and had another discussion in which we concluded the projects with potential for realization. After the meeting we went to the beach, here in the lighthouse we met a guy called Irwin which is an urban planner that works for UN with the specialization in territories exposed to earthquakes. On the way back from the lighthouse we raised our first bamboo structure - a single 12 meter long bamboo put up between the rocks! In the evening our host don Efrèn invited us for dinner to a local place where they served soup, rice and chicken for a few dollars. Next we met up with Nico so that Christian could talk about the Eco-Farm project.
